We handle the insurance claim
All major carriers welcome. We deal with the adjuster, the paperwork and the supplements so you don't have to.
Your car. Your choice.
After an accident, your insurance company may steer you toward one of its "preferred" shops. Here is what they don't always mention: Michigan law gives you the right to choose your repair shop. You can bring your vehicle to Collision Icon no matter who your insurer is.
We have been working with insurance companies since 1991. We know how to document damage, write accurate estimates, and get repairs approved without endless back-and-forth.
How we handle your claim
- Open your claim. Call your insurer, get a claim number, and tell them Collision Icon will be doing the repair. Not sure how? We can help.
- Inspection and estimate. We inspect your vehicle and write a detailed estimate, and coordinate with your adjuster's inspection.
- Supplements. When teardown reveals hidden damage, we document it and get it approved, so nothing gets skipped.
- Repair and updates. We keep you posted throughout the repair, and let you know when it is ready.
- Pickup. Your insurer pays us directly for the approved repair. You only cover your deductible, if any.
Help with your deductible
Nobody plans for a deductible. Ask us how we work to keep your out-of-pocket cost as low as possible. We will go over your options honestly when we write your estimate.
No-fault in Michigan
Michigan's no-fault system means vehicle damage is usually paid through your own collision coverage, regardless of who caused the accident. If the other driver was at fault, you may be able to recover part of your deductible through a mini-tort claim. Every situation is different, so ask us and we will point you in the right direction.
Paying out of pocket?
Not every repair goes through insurance. For smaller jobs, paying directly can make sense. We are happy to give you a straightforward price, and financing options are available.

Insurance questions
Can my insurance company make me use their shop?
No. In Michigan, you have the right to choose where your vehicle is repaired. Your insurer can recommend a shop from its network, but it cannot require you to use it.
What is a supplement?
Hidden damage often shows up once a vehicle is taken apart. When that happens, we document it and submit a supplement to your insurer so the additional repairs are approved and paid.
What if the other driver was at fault?
Michigan is a no-fault state, so vehicle damage is usually handled through your own policy's collision coverage or through a mini-tort claim against the at-fault driver. We can explain your options and help you work through it.
Can you help with my deductible?
Ask us. We work to keep your out-of-pocket cost as low as possible and will go over your options when we write the estimate.
Do I pay the shop or does insurance pay?
Typically your insurer pays us directly for the approved repair amount, and you are responsible for your deductible, if any.
